Fatigue, breaks and workload

Manage safety risks caused by long duties, sustained concentration and insufficient recovery.

Fatigue can reduce judgement, attention and decision quality. Managers should avoid treating uninterrupted availability as a sign of commitment where the work requires sustained concentration or operational responsibility.

Duty and session arrangements should allow reasonable breaks, handover and relief. Higher-risk work may require clearer limits, supervision or rotation.

A worker who says they are too tired, unwell or unable to continue safely should be assessed on the actual risk rather than pressured to remain simply because a platform session is still running.
